How to Watch Passthrough VR Porn on Quest 3 (AR Porn Guide)
Updated 7 October 2026
Passthrough VR porn, also called AR porn, cuts the performer out of the scene and overlays them on your real surroundings, seen through your headset's colour cameras. It's the biggest new trend in VR porn, and Quest 3 made it practical.
Quick answer
On Quest 3 or 3S, install DeoVR (free) or HereSphere, open a passthrough scene and switch on the player's passthrough mode: the background disappears and the performer appears in your room. Quest 2's black-and-white cameras make it look much worse.
How passthrough VR porn works
Studios either shoot on a green screen or generate a matte with AI. The matte is packed into the video file (usually as small black-and-white images in spare corners of a fisheye frame), and the player uses it as a mask so only the performer is drawn. Standard decoders can't handle transparency, which is why you need a player that understands these packed masks.
Headsets that work
| Headset | Passthrough | Verdict |
|---|---|---|
| Meta Quest 3 / 3S | Full colour | Best mainstream option |
| Pico 4 Ultra | Full colour (32 MP cameras) | Works; check your player supports it |
| Samsung Galaxy XR | Full colour | Hardware is capable; player support is still patchy |
| Apple Vision Pro | Colour, apps only | No browser passthrough; Moon Player has a passthrough mode |
| Quest 2 | Black and white | Works, but looks poor |
| Steam Frame, Bigscreen Beyond, PS VR2, Index | None or monochrome | Not suitable |
Step by step on Quest 3
- 1Install DeoVR (free) or HereSphere ($29.99) from the Horizon Store. 4XVR and Moon VR Player also support passthrough.
- 2Find a passthrough scene: on VRPornEx browse the AI Passthrough tag, then open the studio or membership site that has the full file.
- 3Stream it in DeoVR's built-in browser or download the passthrough version and open it in your player.
- 4Turn on the player's passthrough or AR mode (in HereSphere choose the alpha-packed or chroma-key mask).
- 5Stand or sit where the performer should be, recentre with the Meta button and adjust the scale if the player offers it.
AI passthrough vs native passthrough
Native passthrough scenes are shot for it, usually on a green screen, and give the cleanest edges. AI passthrough versions are generated from normal scenes (SexLikeReal offers them for most of its catalogue); they make far more content available, but edges can shimmer around hair and fast movement.

FAQ
What is passthrough VR porn?
VR porn where the performer is cut out and shown in your real room through the headset's cameras, instead of a full 180° scene.
Does Quest 2 support passthrough porn?
Technically yes, but Quest 2's passthrough is black and white and low resolution, so it looks much less real than on Quest 3.
Which player is best for passthrough?
HereSphere has the most control over masks (alpha-packed and chroma key). DeoVR is the easiest free option.
Can I watch passthrough porn in the browser?
Some WebXR players support it on Quest, but a dedicated player like DeoVR or HereSphere is far more reliable.
